JoAnne Barbiaux Pohler is the owner of JoAnne's Stained Glass & Gallery since it's opening in 1979 in Truckee,
California. Before becoming a full time glass artist, JoAnne was
an artist who created pen and ink drawings, pencil graphics, oil
paintings and watercolors. Joanne was introduced to the beauty of
art glass when she lived in LA and took a stained glass class in the
early 1970's. It wasn't until she lived in Truckee and shared a
small, studio space with Truckee River Sash and Door, that she decided
to go into designing custom art glass for clients as a full time
occupation. She has designed stained glass windows, sandblasted
windows, and fused glass pieces since that time. She, with her
studio crew, fabricate many commissions throughout the area and country.
JoAnne has been inspired by many glass artists, and has participated
in workshops with Phil Teefy, (his first fusing workshop with Dan
Fenton), Dick Millard, Albinas Elskus, Narcissus Quagliata, Boyce
Lyndstrom, Michael Duprille and many more. JoAnne also has taught
stained glass classes in the past, and conducts fusing glass workshops
when time allows.
